How does Blepharoplasty work?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 45–90 minutes. The surgeon:

• makes an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid,
• for lower eyelids, places the incision just below the lashes or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival approach),
• removes excess skin and fat and tightens the muscle,
• closes the incision with fine sutures – scars are minimal and hidden in natural folds.

The procedure can be combined with brow lifting, dermal fillers, or other rejuvenation treatments.

Recovery and return to daily life

After eyelid surgery, mild swelling, bruising, and a feeling of tightness around the eyes are common. These symptoms usually subside within 7–10 days.

Post-procedure recommendations:

• apply cold compresses during the first few days,
• sleep with your head elevated,
• avoid physical exertion for 7–10 days,
• avoid makeup, tanning beds, and direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks,
• follow hygiene and aftercare instructions carefully.

Most patients can return to normal activities within 1–2 weeks, with final results visible after 4–6 weeks.
