Safe restoration of breast shape and functionality
Breast implant replacement is a common surgical procedure performed for aesthetic, comfort, medical, or preventive reasons. It involves removing old implants and replacing them with new ones—either of the same or different size and type, depending on the patient's current preferences and health status.
At GÉVÉ Clinic, we approach each implant replacement individually, taking into account the medical history, tissue condition, and personal wishes of the client.
Who is implant replacement suitable for?
Women with implants older than 10–15 years,
Those who have noticed changes in shape, firmness, or displacement of the implant,
Women experiencing discomfort, pain, or dissatisfaction with the aesthetic result,
Clients who have suffered implant rupture or capsular contracture,
Women wishing to change the size or type of implant (e.g., from round to anatomical),
Individuals undergoing complex revision surgery or combined aesthetic procedures.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes 1–2 hours. The surgeon:
Removes the original implant through the previous or a new incision,
Cleans or removes the capsule (scar tissue) if necessary,
Inserts the new implant and reshapes the breast,
Closes the incision and applies a supportive compression bandage.
The surgery may be combined with a breast lift (mastopexy), capsule removal, or fat grafting.
Recovery and healing
Mild pain, pressure, and tightness are normal after the procedure. The client usually stays at the clinic for one night.
Postoperative recommendations:
Wear a compression bra for 4–6 weeks,
Limit physical activity, especially lifting arms overhead,
Avoid sleeping on the stomach,
Attend regular check-ups and protect the surgical site.
